The [devil], if a guy like that becomes a mod, i'm outta here. But luckily there is a very small chance of someone like that becoming a mod.

But what does it mean to be a mod? And what the [devil] is a mod?

A moderator (mod) is someone who takes care of the forums. They delete unneccesary topics, CP, Warn members etc.

If you are to become a mod, then you need to have some activity level at the forums. everything depends on how many forums you got. If you only got a couple of forums to moderate, then 1-2 times a week is enough.

But if you have 10 forums to moderate, then it probably would be a good idea to check in atleast once a day.

Its important to speak in a way, so that everyone is able to understand you.
Lets take this as an axample:

Quote:
"i w4ntz b3c0m3 a modx of da 4ums & h4v3s powa Bahahahaha!!!"

Translated it means:
"I want to become a mod of the forums and have power bahahaha"

Yeah, you could say its pretty easy to understand what it is he/she is saying, but it will get pretty annoying after some time.

So, it would be a good idea that you dont write l33tish or singlish. You shouldent write in quick text either, like: u = you etc.

When writing, try to use the magic signs "," and "."
It'll make reading your text much easier.

When you are a mod, you get some certain responsebility, and there are a couple of rules to follow:

1. Dont abuse your powers over others.
2. Dont feel like you are better then everyone else, becuse you're a mod.
3. Always be friendly against other members, whatever they are new or old.
4. Never flame!

Remember, you have to act as a rolemodel for others. Its not something you must, neither is there anyone who probably looks at the mods as rolemodels. But it is important that you dont do any crap, so that the mods wont get a bad reputation.

Members might even say:
"Well if he/she is allowed to do crap like that, then i'm allowed to do it aswell."

When posting replies and new messages, always be sure that it isent lies your posting. You are a mod now, and you need to be a certain level above others.

I'm not satying that anyone is better then others, i'm just saying that you need to be able to outsmart most members and that way earn some respect, and get some order.

A good example was if you knew something, someone else didnt know. Like, where to upload your images to show them at forums. A place like photobucket.com

If you're not sure what to do with a certain person, ask the other mods, or even better ask the admin.

Finally, you would probably need a certain post amount to become a mod.
A complete newbie, who just joined and have 2 posts, where both of them are in the introduction forum, isent going to become a mod. Unless he is a known member.

If you've read this far, then you now know how to become a mod.
But, it dosent mean that theese guidelines will get you to become a mod.

I found this on a website which i am registered at, www.game4fans.com, and i decided that since the number of members is growing, we will be needing moderators to look after the forums. The GFXtra Team will still be responsible for the Graphics Section, and the mods will be taking care of the other sections. If you are interested, please apply for the position in this thread.
